The Swirling Neon.

THE SWIRLING NEON - GU:ZI

A statement from the designer:

The Swirling Neon is a celebration of dancing bodies that are eager to connect amidst conflict.
Based on Steve Paxton’s contact Improvisation theory, the collection explores intuitive connections in motion, the process of attracting and pulling. Resulting in ambivalent attachment. With unusual prosthetic extensions, the collection of auxiliary bodies pushes the boundary of feel.
With the dancer’s kinaesthetic senses in motion being challenged, the swirling neon provides a new way of exchanging momentum, energy and emotions through dance.

Working alongside the incredibly talented designer GU:ZI for her final graduation presentation at the London College of Fashion was an absolute honour. From the moment she approached me to be part of the project, I was thrilled, having admired her previous work. Together, we decided on an editorial approach for the shoot, infusing plenty of movement to showcase her stunning creations. With the support of an exceptional team, we utilized coloured gels on the lights to accentuate the patterns and hues of the garments, fostering a cinematic ambience that I thoroughly enjoyed exploring. Experimenting with slow shutter speeds as the dancers moved allowed me to capture exquisite blurry motions that perfectly complemented the essence of her collection. The entire shoot was a joyous experience, and I’m immensely proud of the resulting images.
